The Trauma Therapy Curriculum
Trauma therapy patients will take part in our Mental Health Core Intensive Outpatient Program or Flexible Outpatient Program, and will learn various coping strategies. Our treatment methods have been curated with the expertise of our world-class mental health professionals and include Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, and more. The treatment plan assists those who have suffered from trauma in developing healthy coping strategies around their traumatic memories, ultimately reducing the mental suffering associated with those memories.
Unreported Trauma
Official statistics are hard to come by for trauma in Canada, as many people who experience trauma neither report it nor seek treatment. Some estimates state that as many as 70% of Canadians have experienced a traumatic event in their lifetimes, but most have gone untreated (source: The Canadian Encyclopedia). Untreated trauma can cause physical and mental illness, interfere with daily living, harm relationships, and even lead to more severe mental illnesses such as addiction, PTSD, anxiety, and depression. At The Newly Institute, we can stop your past trauma from negatively affecting your future and give you a rapid resolution of your symptoms.
