Eric is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists, and has a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology.
Prior to moving home to Calgary, he was a Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario.
Eric believes that the relationship with the client is the biggest indicator of therapeutic success, so what comes first and foremost is developing a sense of calm, safety, trust, and collaboration in all the work he does. In terms of treatment modalities, Eric employs an eclectic stance towards the use of modalities and therapy approaches based on what’s needed. This can include various best practices approaches, including a variety of trauma modalities, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and exposure therapy.
Eric is also a human outside of work! He loves the outdoors, specifically skiing and mountain biking. His cattle dog Finn is usually in tow, whether that be on a mountain adventure or on the couch watching TV or reading.
You deserve to feel heard, supported, and understood. Let’s do this hard work together!
Eric has experience working with adults experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, and posttraumatic stress. He has extensive experience working with first responders and veterans, people on workplace disability claims, and those dealing with trauma related to motor vehicle accidents.
Eric has training in and utilizes the following best practice treatment modalities:
ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).
Please note Eric does not work with couples, or clients under the age of 18. If this is what you are looking for, another therapist at The Newly is likely a better fit!
