Dr. Lydia Vezina is a specialist in addiction medicine with a background in family medicine from McGill University in Montreal. In 2015, she moved to Alberta to be a part of the opioid crisis solution. There, she completed an additional year of training in addiction medicine at the University of Calgary. After the program, she became co-program director of the enhanced skills addiction medicine program and also held the position of clinical lecturer within the University. Dr. Vezina is heavily involved in the training of medical students, clerks, and residents as well as curriculum development.

Dr. Vezina is certified by the International Society of Addiction Medicine as well as the Canadian Society of Addiction Medicine.
In addition to her academic duties, Dr. Vezina works in various fields of addiction medicine. She works at the AHS Opioid Dependency Program and at the Renfrew Recovery Centre where she medically assists patients going through detox. She is a consultant for AHS at the Addiction Centre and the Addiction Network where she serves patients from the Foothills Medical Centre. She also works at the AHS Rapid Access Addiction Medicine clinic.
